Peking Man Known as a human relative who walked upright and whose thick skull bone and beetling brow housed a brain three quarters of the size of a Homosapien.

Life Span Peking man is a type of Homo erects. They are from around 300,000 to 500,000 years old, but the majority of them are from around 400,000 years ago.

THE DISCOVERY OF PEKING MAN In the early 1900’s around 1929 to 1937 14 partial craniums, 11 lower jaws, many teeth, some skeleton bones, and a large number of stone tools were discovered.

Lower Cave The discoveries of Peking man took place in the lower cave. The lower cave is located in Zhoukoudian the West side of china about 30 miles away from Beijing.

Fossils facts Most of the complete fossils were braincases and skullcaps. The bones indicate a shorter more sturdier body build.

BRAINS! From my research a peking man brain ranged from 915 cc to 1225 cc in size.

Skulls Found Skull III, discovered at Locus E in 1929 is an adolescent or juvenile with a brain size of 915 cc. Skull II, discovered at Locus D in 1929 but only recognized in 1930, is an adult or adolescent with a brain size of 1030 cc. Skulls X, XI and XII (sometimes called LI, LII and LIII) were discovered at Locus L in 1936. They are thought to belong to an adult man, an adult woman and a young adult, with brain sizes of 1225 cc, 1015 cc and 1030 cc respectively. (Weidenreich 1937) Skull V: two cranial fragments were discovered in 1966 which fit with (casts of) two other fragments found in 1934 and 1936 to form much of a skullcap with a brain size of 1140 cc. These pieces were found at a higher level, and appear to be more modern than the other skullcaps. (Jia and Huang 1990)

Modern Humans & Peking Man Modern humans fossils were also found in the upper cave at the same site as the peking man neanderthals lived in. The modern human skeletons were found in 1933. This could of had meant that both had the same idea of living conditions and used the caves to there goods. It could also mean that modern humans and neanderthals met in the cave and the modern humans killed them off.

CREATIONIST ARGUMENTS AGAINST PEKING MAN FOSSILS Creationists often claim that the Peking Man Fossils are the remains of apes or monkeys eaten by real humans; that the original fossils may have been disposed of to conceal the evidence of fraud; that only models of the fossils remain; and that they are distorted to fit evolutionist preconceptions.

Argument against creationists! My argument is that i believe that peking men were not moneys or apes. I believe this because the fossils found were not matches to the fossils of monkeys and or apes there fossils were a combination of modern humans and ape skulls and body shapes. The peking man fossils were in between seeming as if they were becoming more human like. This evidence supports the theory of EVOLUTION!!
