2 1. Chief of State Symbolic head of nation Ceremonial representative Mr.USA Examples: a. honors national heroes b. represents us at national events He expect him to be better than us.

3 2. Chief Executive/Administrator Makes sure the nation runs smoothly on a day to day basis. (has cabinet and entire federal bureaucracy to help). Examples: Taking emergency actions (Katrina) Fixing the Banking emergency Appointing heads of Departments

6 5. Chief Legislator Recommends legislation to Congress Makes a STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS – telling Congress what we need Power of the Veto Calls on different groups to put pressure on Congress to get policies through Congress

Party Chief President must be a party leader to be elected, to get legislation passed and to see his policies are backed by the people President campaigns and gives support to party members who are up for election to keep his party in power Examples: 1.
