3 The Boston Massacre ( March 5,1770 ) Americans swear, jeer, and throw snowballs and rocks at the British Soldiers. British soldiers fire on the Americans. What does Massacre mean?

4 Tea Act (1773) 8 After the massacre, most taxes are lifted except the tax on tea.  Monopoly on British tea imports.  Many members of English Parliament held shares.  Tea Act permitted the Company to sell tea directly to colonies.

5 Boston Tea Party (1773)

6 The Intolerable Acts (1774) Lord North: Prime Minister of England 1. Close the port of Boston to repay the tea lost. 2. All colonial government appointed by the king. 3. Soldiers can be placed in private homes
