4 Role of the committee members First and foremost the members are bringing to the committee the perspective as a faculty member here on this campus. They have an understanding of the academic expectations and the mission of the University. Also, they will carry into the meetings other perspectives to share in our discussions. One perspective will be from the person of “content” expert on an assigned topic and the other perspective will be of the athletes and coaches from their assigned teams. This type of preparation and thinking will allow us to review comprehensively and to reflect openly on information shared and directions chosen.
