3 Milkweed contains a poisonous sap that keeps bugs and birds from eating it

4 Thistle has sharp spines, or thistles that poke an organism trying to eat it

5 Rattlesnake Plant Leaves sound just like a rattlesnake when shaken scares away predators so it is not eaten by animals

6 Pitcher Plant contain sweet- smelling syrup that attracts insects to it insects fall into the syrup and become dissolved this carnivorous (eats meat) plant needs extra nutrients from insects since the soil where it lives has few nutrients

7 Venus Fly Trap this carnivorous plant consumes flies has a brightly colored inside that attracts insects the leave’s spines keep flies from escaping needs extra nutrients that the soil doesn’t provide

8 Stone Plant leaves are camouflaged as stones or pebbles animals leave this plant alone because they do not eat stones

9 Titan Arum opens up for just two days and smells like rotting meat the smell attracts bees so that pollination can occur can grow up to 10 feet tall
