3 AP Microeconomics This class is for the exceptionally studious high school student who wishes to earn college credit in high school through a rigorous academic program. Microeconomics introduces students to the cost– benefit analysis that is the economic way of thinking. This analysis is used to understand smaller segments of the economy—specifically, consumers and producers—as they interact in output markets and resource markets, and to understand the government’s impact on these specific economic units. Emphasis will be placed on preparation for the AP Microeconomics exam given in May. Higher expectations will be the standard for all assignments, tests, and quizzes.

5 AP Microeconomics Exam: May 13 th  60 multiple choice questions, 70 minutes, which counts for 66% of the grade  Three Free Response Questions, FRQ’s  FRQ’s: 1 long, 2 short, 50 minutes with a 10 minute planning time which counts for 33% of your grade.

6 College Prep Economics Economics is a broad term that covers many different topics. The state of Georgia has divided it into five major areas of knowledge, called content domains, which can be broken down into smaller ideas. The five domains of the Economics course are: Fundamental Economic Concepts Microeconomic Concepts Macroeconomic Concepts International Economics Personal Finance

7 Grading/Evaluation  Types of assignments: quizzes, tests, work book activities, simulation analysis, projects, outside reading.  Grades will be calculated on a TOTAL POINTS system.  EXAMPLE: A quiz is worth 30 points. The student received 27 points. 27/30 gives a percentage of 90%. ***One Exception: The Milestone exam will count as 20% of the final grade in the course.***
