How much is too much sugar? L/O :- To understand saturation

Water Sugar What would happen if I put these 2 substances together? Would the water level remain the same? The water level would remain the same because the sugar has dissolved

A “Particle Theory” explanation 100 g 105 g Before After

‘My builder likes 8 sugars in his tea!! But I am running out of sugar. Do you think he will notice if I only add 6 spoons? Design an experiment to test if ‘old Mrs Fry’ can get away with only adding 6 spoons of sugar to her builders! Would 10 sugars be even sweeter?

Clearly, there is only so much solute a solution can take… A mixture that cannot take any more solute is called a “saturated solution” What happens when you add too much sugar to the water? When you add too much sugar, the sugar stops dissolving. This is called the SATURATION POINT. What do you think may increase the saturation point?

Evaluation How could you improve the RESOLUTION? To improve the resolution of measurements you use smaller measurements e.g. cm are smaller measurements than m We could have used number of grams instead of number of spoons For example, adding 0.5 grams at a time
