3 Helping verbs HELP main verbs give meaning to a sentence. The family of bananas bouncing in the choir. This doesn’t make sense! The family of bananas were bouncing in the choir. were + bouncing = verb phrase

4 More Common Verb Phrases am + joking = am joking is + running = is running are + skiing = are skiing was + jumping = was jumping were + coming = were coming will be + judging = will be judging I am joking about bringing the dog with me.
