Planet Earth By: Taylore Speed-Tucker

Earth’s Symbol

How Earth Got It’s Name The name “Earth” is from both English and German words. ‘eor(th)e/ertha’ and ‘erde’, meaning “ground”.

Earth’s Measurements Mass-5.97kg Volume-1.08kg3 Density-5.52g/cm3 Gravity-9.78m/s3

Would Earth sink or float in water? Earth would sink because it’s gravity is greater than one.

Composition of the Atmosphere Oxygen and Oceans

Thick or Thin? The Earth’s atmosphere is an extremely thin sheet of air extending from the surface of the Earth to the edge of space. The thickness of Earth’s atmosphere is about 60 miles thin.

Distances Order from the sun- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus Distance from the sun in km: 149,600,000km Distance from the Earth in km: 147 million km

Orbit and Rotation: How long does it take for Earth to orbit around the sun? 365 days/ 1 year

Orbit and Rotation cont./ How long does it Earth to rotate on it’s own axis? 1 day

What is the temperature range on Earth? 18°C (64°F)-27°C (80°F) It compares to Florida because Florida’s temperature is more tropical than temperate.

What type of planet do you have? ] How does this describe Earth’s surface composition Rocky It’s unique because each layer has different characteristics and is made from different elements and minerals.

What is it’s internal composition? A liquid layer of hydrogen and helium

What does Earth look like? Earth is rocky. It is blue, green, and white. Blue for water. Green for land. White for snow and clouds.

Water 70% water Lakes/Rivers Oceans Glacers

Weather Tropical- Counties are by the equator. Only have 1 season(summer) Polar: Cold, 1 season(winter) Dry: Desert, 1 season(summer) Temperate: all four(4) seasons (fall, spring, summer, winter)

Moons Moons-1 The moon is a spherical object in space that can appear many different colors such as; white and yellow. Also have craters. The moon never been discovered. It has always been here.

Something Special Earth has Tornadoes and Hurricanes
