Full accreditation was awarded in 2004 by International committee (lawyers from USA, UK, Danmark, Latvia). Last changes there made in 2005.

4 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence4 AIMS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW MASTERS PROGRAMME TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES ABOUT: 1) the new legal processes within the information society; 2) transformations of traditional legal institutes and processes in e-law; 3) to form the abilities and competence to manage information technologies that will help to solve legal problems in information society.

5 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence5 AIMS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW MASTERS PROGRAMME Study programme aims at training the lawyers with special knowledge and skills necessary for working in the information society. Study programme aims to give a profound knowledge of the IT Law, its areas of applications and its realization in practice.

10 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence10 CONTENT OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW MASTERS PROGRAMME Study programme consists of the subjects in law and the subjects analysing the most important law institutes of information technologies, including: the intellectual property rights in cyberspace, telecommunications law, e-commerce and e-signature law, data protection and data security; Internet law and etc.

15 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence15 RESEARCH WORK Research work aims at developing the skills of scientific research work in the field of IT law that helps master students to work in an effective way embracing all the elements indicated in the plan for master’s studies.

16 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence16 Final Master’s Thesis Studies end with Final Master’s Thesis, which is continuation of the research work. Students are doing written research work on chosen IT Law field on student’s own.

20 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence20 STRENGTHS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW MASTERS PROGRAMME The programme provide the possibility to the persons, who already have a fundamental legal education, to acquire specialised higher education of master degree in the area of legal informatics. Content of the programme is closely related to the nowadays processes existing in the social-legal process in EU and Lithuania, transformation to information society. The programme creates favourable preconditions for employment in the knowledge economy related business and public structures.

21 2006 02 10LEFIS General Assembly Firence21 STRENGTHS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAW MASTERS PROGRAMME Student are provided with good learning resources for studies. Teachers of high qualification teach in the programme. Students have the possibility to study in the universities abroad (Zaragoza,Spain, Lapland,Finland; Leuven, Belgium; Vienna, Austria) attend the lectures gave by the professors from this and others foreign universities, to take part in the research activity of departament. The programme complies with the international standards and the latest study programmes of higher schools abroad. Integrity of the programme: the programme unites the legal and technical subjects.

Mykolas Romeris University is seeking to have well integrated research mechanism in the field of Information Technology Law.
