1 Carbon-Monroe-Pike Developmental Services Department The region encompassed by C-M-P is comprised of 1,557 miles. Estimated average driving time from one end of the region to the other is approximately 2.5 hours. The estimated 2008 census population of the three counties is 290,000.

2 Carbon-Monroe-Pike serves over 1,400 Intellectually Disabled individuals each year!

3 Supports Coordination Organization The SCO consists of an SCO Director, 3 SC Supervisors and 21 Supports Coordinators. The DS Department serves over 1,000 consumers in a year.

4 Funding ◦ Supports Coordination is funded through the promise FFS ◦ Units of service vary from $14.00 to $30.00 a unit statewide ◦ CMP rate is $18.60 a unit ◦ Travel is not billable ◦ Productivity range is 50-65%

28 Due to the growing number of teens and young adults with Intellectual Disabilities, SCs must prepare for transition into the community and workforce. This challenge is further complicated by the fact that there is a lack of funding available to provide the necessary supports. This often leaves those who graduate sitting at home watching television. Added stressors:

29 61% of CMP DS consumers are 30 years of age and under. In F.Y. 09/10, CMP had 61new intakes. Largest Group: 267 11-20 year olds.

30 The Waiting List The counties estimate that there are approximately 1,600 people who will present as unanticipated emergencies in the next 6 months, this includes graduates from the special education system and children leaving the CYS RTF settings It is estimated by the PA waiting list campaign that there are over 16,000 people waiting for services

31 Waiting list continued…. Support Coordinators are the front line of professionals who intimately know the waiting list consumers and families and advocate for these people
