3. Buzz in to win Aim: Revision for end of a module/plenary
Topics: Quiz questions could be based around vocabulary /
grammar point / culture
Pupils work in groups of 4
They are asked to prepare about 10 questions (with answers) on the chosen area.
Two pupils (from different teams) come to the front as contestants
They answer questions from the remaining teams (depends on class size) 3 works well
To answer they must buzz in first.
They score a point per correct answer.
Contestants from another two teams are chosen
The number of rounds is up to you – once each team has had an even number of goes you
can have a sudden death round to decide the overall winner.
Differentiation:
Pupils can ask the questions using TL.
Have a couple of pupils to act as quiz masters.
Provide vocabulary/grammar to help with preparation.
Could use ‘lifelines’ if both contestants struggle to answer.
