1. Ford

2. The win program Ford took over the president after Nixon Pardoning the former President To deal with the inflation and the stagnant economy known as stagflation Ford developed the Win program or whip inflation now. The WIN program failed many saying Ford was no better than Herbert Hoover.

3. The Fall of Saigon America protected the capital of south Vietnam Saigon throughout the Vietnam war. The capital fell as U.S. troops withdrew marking the end of the war and shame for the country.

4. Carter

5. The Camp David accords The most famous of Carter’s international efforts due to it’s success. Carter invited the leaders of Israel and Egypt to the presidential retreat at Camp David. The Camp David accords were negotiations between Sadat of Egypt and Begin of Israel. Israel agreed to return land to Egypt, easing conflict between the two countries.

6. OPEC OPEC was business agreement formed by major oil producing countries mostly in the Middle East. The group worked to control oil prices causing the prices to rise drastically which slowed the U.S. Economy. Carter would pass the National Energy Act the act taxed cars that were not energy efficient and led to the creation of the Department of Energy

7. The Iran Hostage Crisis Originally the U.S. had taken the leader Iran out of power. The people of Iran Revolted looking for the return of their leader. Eventually the citizens Iran took the U.S. Embassy along with U.S. hostages. The Iranian Hostage Crisis became a public embarrassment to Carter. First with an unsuccessful marine rescue attempt, and a long drawn out hostage negotiation, that made him look weak in cold war politics. The weakened economy and hostage crisis lead to the election of Ronald Reagan.

8. Reaganomics To deal with the weakened U.S. economy Reagan continued with an idea similar to that of Calvin Coolidge in the 1920’s creating tax cut for the top ten percent. Known as Trickle Down or Reaganomics. Reaganomics did not fully repair the ailing economy and was brought to an end along with raising taxes.

9. New Federalism Reagan continued to push the conservative ideas that he was elected by pushing the idea of New Federalism where power centered on giving power back to the state government at the expense of the Federal Government.

10. The Religious Right The religious right supported Reagan and many other Republican candidates that were conservative from the South. The group is still to a degree considered an aspect of American politics.

11. Iran- Contra Regan along with the military supported controversial anti communist group the contra’s in Nicaragua, who opposed the communist Sandinistas. Supposedly without the knowledge of the President Oliver North along with other military officials sold weapons to Iran to try and better relations. The money went to fund the Anti communist force Nicaragua the Contras. The Whole account for a short period was seen as a possible impeachable offense until North confessed to the crime.

12. The end of the cold war Due to a staggering economic problems the soviet union collapsed as well as the Berlin wall. The Eastern European countries were absorbed into the European Union.

14. Gridlock Bush did not pass many domestic laws due to Gridlock where the democrats had control of congress.

15. Tax raising debacle Though the economy was endangered during the Reagan presidency,Bush Promised that during his presidency that he would not raise taxes. Shortly after entering office he realized the economic issues of the country and raised taxes.

16. Operation Desert Storm Saudi Arabia was on of the world's largest oil Producers, when it was thought Saddam Hussein might endanger the area the United states moved to protect the area, as well as Kuwait. The U.S. solved the conflict in a few months before pulling out.

18. Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich Newt Gingrich was the speaker of the house that opposed Clinton and promised to get rid of many democratic party reforms.

19. NAFTA NAFTA North American Free Trade Agreement. Existed to remove trade barriers in North America Globalization was the idea of uniting the world through trade and lowering tariffs
