4. VISITview: why did we do it? The Virtual Institute for Satellite Integration Training (VISIT) program needed a tool that was tailored to the needs of science-based training for the meteorological community 1998: commercial off-the-shelf software was inadequate and expensive VISITview software could easily and quickly be enhanced, allowing user feedback to help VISITview grow to become more full-featured (for example, Internationalization)

5. VISITview: who uses it? National Weather Service, NESDIS EUMETSAT WMO (monthly regional focus group discussions) Other weather services: Costa Rica, Finland, Brazil, South Africa, etc. Remote presentations at conferences

6. VISITview: what does it do? Displays presentation slides (with pointing, drawing) Image animation, zooming, fading, text annotation Color enhancement, graphics overlays, image portals Interactive quiz, chat, and blackboard functions Recorded voice and instructor annotation for offline playback
