2 Background Information Andrew Petro presented tools for “uP 2 XML Import and Export” at the April, 2007 Developers Meeting at Johns Hopkins These tools (Import/Export) leverage an open source Java library called Cernunnos Cernunnos is hosted by Google Code, and was developed by Drew Wills (me) –http://code.google.com/p/cernunnos/

4 Advantages of Import/Export Export, manipulate, and import portal entities as succinct, domain-friendly XML documents: –uPortal data is more accessible to humans –It’s easy to migrate entities between environments 2.6 to 3.0 QA to Production portal.yale.edu to my.wisc.edu –Provides a platform for additional entity-manipulation tools copy-user alm-to-dlm full-dbunload

5 Current Status Currently Yale is working to transition Import/Export to the uPortal codebase There is a JIRA: UP-1834 The main body of work (UP-1834) is complete Remaining issues & tasks have been entered as subtasks of UP-1843 (10 at the moment)

6 How You Can Help Understand the proposals Keep an eye on the JIRA (maybe use the “watch” feature in Confluence) Share your insights & suggestions on list and as JIRA comments
