Gospel & Letters of John How Great Is The Love Of The Father 1 John 3:1-24 Lesson 26

1 John 3:18: Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

Gospel & Letters of John How Great Is The Love Of The Father 1 John 3:1-24 Lesson 26

1 John 3:1a: See what great love the Father has lavished on us 1) Being His creation – being finite, it is impossible for me to fully understand my Creator – the Infinite One. The Creator is always greater than the creation, so the creation cannot totally know the Creator. 2) Because of the love I have learned through my own human experiences is, by its nature, flawed and sin- based, it is impossible for me to comprehend the love of the Father – the agape love – the love of God which is perfect and holy. 6 “You must unlearn what you have learned”

2 Corinthians 6:14: Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? John 8:44: You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 John 3:1b: that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

1 John 3:1c: The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:2: Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

I have been saved John 5:24: “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” I am being saved Philippians 2:12-13: continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. I will be saved Revelation 7:16-17: They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb [Jesus] who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

1 John 3:2: Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:3: All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Leviticus 20:26: You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own. Romans 12:1: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

1 John 3:4: Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:5: But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. John 1:29b: “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Hebrews 7:22-28: Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant. Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

1 John 3:6: No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 1 Peter 2:11: Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Romans 7:22-23: For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

1 John 3:7-8a: Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. 1 John 3:8b: The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 1 John 3:9: No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

1 John 3:10: This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. Matthew 7:20: Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. John 15:2: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

1 John 3:11: For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. John 13:34: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Isaiah 64:6: All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

1 John 3:13: Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. John 7:7: The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil. John 15:18: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. John 15:19: If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Luke 6:22: Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

1 John 3:14-15: We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. Matthew 5:21-22a: “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.

1 John 3:16: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:17-18: If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

James 2:21-22: Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

1 John 3:19-20: This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Romans 8:1: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

1 John 3:21-22: Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 1 John 3:23: And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

1 John 3:24: The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

The Father’s Love Enabled Jesus To: To Know the Father Matthew 11:27: “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. To Respect the Father John 5:19: Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

The Father’s Love Enabled Jesus To: To Trust the Father Mark 14:36: “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Know the Father Loved Him John 3:35: The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.

John 17:26:And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
