Food Allergies You can monitor your child for food allergies by watching for these tell tale signs of an allergic reaction. Hives Itching Rash Temper changes Swelling of the face, tongue or eyes Vomiting Cramps Itching or tightness of the throat, …

Foods to avoid in the first year There are some foods your child under the age of 1 should not eat. Due to allergic reactions, botulism and harmful bacteria entering your child’s system. A young child’s digestion system can not protect itself yet. Honey, corn syrup and maple syrup Raw or unpasteurized milk Soft chesses Un-pasteurized juice Raw eggs Egg whites Citrus fruit Wheat and wheat products Nuts and peanut butter Raw sprouts Pre sweetened foods and candy

Proper Heating And Reheating of Food If you feed your child baby food from a jar and they eat directly from the jar with their spoon do not reheat it. If you think they will only eat some of it, use a separate bowl for feeding. This is the only time it can be safely reheated. This is to avoid food poisoning and bacteria. If you are to reheat the food, make sure to stir it to avoid hot spots. If it is a bottle you can test it on your wrist and if it is food you can test it on your lip.

Poem Newborns need milk, Either through mom or bottle, Don’t prop the bottle with a quilt, When they are four to six months, Give them liquid cereal, As they reach eight months, Give them jarred food such as veggies, If your baby is teething or gaining weight, Start them on solid food, Its so great.

Answer to EQ: If the child is teething or gaining weight then the child should be able to start him/her on solid food.
