Queen spent most of her reign construcitn the temple.
She would strap a falsr beard to her chin and wear men’s clothing when she visited her site.

7. NEW KINGDOM (1500-1085) HYPOSTLE HALL (1530 BCE)

-135 columns, 21 metres high (7 stories)
-columns capped with open-flowered capitals- some in the shape of a lotus blossom
-covered in reliefs

23. Designing Your Own Written Language
For our next project you will create your own hieroglyphics. In the end you will use this language to write a statement in you final Egyptian Project. The artwork in the final project will match the topic you chose for your hieroglyphics.
We'll use this procedure:
Choose a topic of interest to you.
Generate ideas for pictures by web-mapping and brainstorming.
Create about 26 polished, realistic drawings that relate to your theme. They do not have to bigger than 2” x 2”
Carefully, and thoughtfully simplify these drawings until they become symbols. Consider balance, ease of writing, elegance, and negative space when designing.
Don't over simplify! Reducing a picture to just a few lines can make a language seem dull. Choose the designs where your letters are simplified to degree similar to the hieroglyphs.
Assign each symbol a letter for the English alphabet.
Final Artwork
Central Panel- Design a central panel for you Egyptian project. Combine Egyptian style drawing, Egyptian symbols and the topic (theme) of your hieroglyphics/ (if it’s sports- Egyptian gods playing hockey, for example).
Border- Create an Egyptian border around the central picture.
Hieroglyphics- Use your own developed hieroglyphics to write a statement in your drawing. Please remember that I can read them.
Medium- the final drawing will be on half a sheet of Mayfair. It should be drawn lightly in pencil and then outlined in then black marker, All pencil lines should be erased. It will be rendered in pencil crayons, and should include such techniques as shading, colour blending, scrubbing and texture.
