And there it was. Sitting on a lonely park bench, was the shiniest, bluest feather you ever saw. It seemed to catch the sun’s rays inside it, shine them back out in every direction. This feather seems to have been everywhere, and today, it was off on another adventure. It sat there, waiting, waiting… suddenly, the wind blew up, and the shiny blue feather was lifted up into the air.

It danced effortlessly through the air, rising, falling… until it was caught in mid- air. It had become snagged in a big, sticky spider-web. The big, hairy spider who owned the web looked over at the feather unhappily. This was not the lunch he had hoped to be catching. But nevertheless, he crawled over to the feather and began wrapping it up in a web anyway. After he had finished, he crawled away and went back to what he was doing previously. But then, the wind blew up, and the feather was lifted off the web and back into his busy adventure.

Whoosh! So on the feather floated, shining in the sun. It swirled and twirled, until it landed on the surface of a murky pond. A curious frog swam to the surface, poked it’s head out, and inspected the shiny feather. He seemed to like the look of it. He sprung onto the feather, and used it as a ferry to reach the edge of the pond. After the ride was over, the frog hopped away. The feather lay motionless, then Whoosh! The wind swept the feather up and into the air again.

Off it was, traveling on. All of a sudden, the feather was snagged in between the leaves of a bright green bush. For a while, nothing happened. Was this the last of the feather’s adventures for today? Not even close. A dog came running past. Then it stopped. The dog could smell the bird smell of the feather. It turned around and sniffed it all over, then got bored and ran off. But it’s tail had knocked into the bush, and the feather fell free. My, what a windy day it was today! The feather was rapidly lifting into the air, off to it’s next destination…

On and on it went, until it reached a beautiful, lush garden. There was a straw hat lying on the ground next to a worn shovel. The feather landed on the rim of the hat gracefully. A little girl walked up and put the hat on when she saw the feather on it. “What a pretty feather!”, she said. She put it in her hair. She ran off to show her mother, when the wind picked up again and greedily snatched the feather from the girl. “Nooo, feather! Come back!”, she yelled. But the feather did not come back.

The wind was suddenly stronger than it had been all day, and in the opposite direction too! The feather rapidly swooshed away from the chick nest, and past the girl with the straw hat…

Past the dog and the bright bush…

Over the murky pond, and past the spider web…

and back to the bench, where the day had started. You would think the feather would be tired after it’s long day, wouldn’t you? It sat there for a while under the pink horizon, but suddenly a little girl walked by and spotted the feather. She examined it with her eyes for a while, then picked it up. She skipped off happily, the feather in her hand. Maybe the feather’s adventures weren’t over for today…
