3. Silent Sustained Reading (SSR)  SSR is an English Dept. initiative to encourage students to experience the love of literature by enjoying a book for leisure purposes.  Each class begins with SSR  We are encouraging students to bring in books they want to read.

4. Benefits of Co-teaching for Students  Instructional time is sustained because students are not leaving the classroom for “special help”  Students benefit from the teaching style of two teachers  Co-teachers serve as role models to students by demonstrating healthy adult interaction  More instructional time on learning because teachers can divide whole class into smaller parts  Lessons are delivered using multiple strategies (i.e. Socratic Seminars, parallel teaching, station teaching, etc.)

10. Students are expected:  to put forth their best effort in this class  to read the texts and complete all work on time  to participate in class discussions and presentations

11.  Homework significantly impacts students’ grades.  Livingston School District Policy:  15 percent of each marking period’s grades
