5 History of Uzbek language Uzbek is a state language in Uzbekistan. Belongs to the Turkic language group. Formation of the Uzbek literary language covers three historical periods; old Turkic language, Uzbek ancient and the modern Uzbek language. The great scientist and poet Alisher Navoi's 15 th century made significant contributions to the development of the Uzbek language. Modern Uzbek language began to form at the beginning of 20 th century. There exist three basic dialects in the Uzbek language: Karluk, kipcbak and Oguz. The modern Uzbek language has developed based on the dialects in Tashkent and Ferghana.

6 History of Uzbek language Uzbek peoples were using Arabic alphabet to 1927 and then, they started using Latin script from 1927 to 1938. Then the Cyrillic alphabet came out to the stage. In 1994, the Government of Uzbekistan decided to change the Uzbek alphabet to Latin alphabet again. This process is would be finalized in 2007. In such a way, now the Uzbek alphabet based on Latin script has 26 letters and 3 different letter combinations. Basics of Uzbek vocabulary mostly composed of total Turkic and Uzbek words appeared on stage, based on the former. Uzbekistan also includes significant number of international words.

7 Uzbek peoples T he native inhabitants of Uzbekistan are Uzbeks. Besides Uzbeks, there are Russians, Kazakhs, Kyrgyzs, Tajiks, Kara-Kalpaks, Turkmens, Tartars, Ukrainians, Russians, Iranians and other. Uzbeks live not only in Uzbekistan. There are Uzbek diaspora in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, China, India, Pakistan, Germany, USA, and some other countries.

9 Uzbekistan President and The person who change the uzbek alphabet Islam Karimov: He is the president of Uzbekistan. And he change uzbek alphabet to latin alphabet. He elected in 24 March 1990.
