The World Bank International Monetary Fund United Nations The International Labor Organization The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries World Tourism Organization International Telecommunication Union World Trade Organization World Health Organization Most Important International Institutions Disseminating Data

SESRTCIC is amoung those International Institutions! The number of SESRTCIC website visitors is at a considerable level (1000 people per day). It is highly desired that the data about Islamic Countries could be disseminated to the world through this website. Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) gave the task of collecting and disseminating data to SESRTCIC. Any one who is searching high quality data for some Islamic Country should be sure that it is available at the Web Site of SESRTCIC. Cooperation of NSOs is needed severely to achive this outcome.

BAsic Social and Economic INDicators (BASEIND) BASEIND currently contains data on 186 socio-economic variables under 15 different categories for the 57 OIC member countries dating back to 1975. The categories that are defined under BASEIND are: Agriculture (27 indicators), National Accounts (27 indicators), Education (15 indicators), Demography (14 indicators), Exports (12 indicators), Imports (12 indicators), Transportation and Communication (12 indicators), International Finance (11 indicators), Money and Prices (10 indicators), Industry and Manufacturing (9 indicators), Energy and Mining (8 indicators), Health (8 indicators), Labour Force (8 indicators), Public Finance (8 indicators), Tourism (5 indicators)

New Categories and Indicators New Categories will be included to BASEIND Poverty (14 Indicators) Environment (6 Indicators) MDG Indicators Gender The number of indicators belonging to some of the existing categories will be increased. The total number of indicators will be around 300 which is quite a high number compared to the existing number of 186. SESRTCIC is open to any suggestions of introduction of new categories or indicators.

A proper and reliable data provision system is required. Methods of data collection will be improved through an ongoing project of developing a computer programme. This project is carried out in cooperation with the NSO of Turkey. This programme will enable the data transfer from each NSO of the OIC member country to SESRTCIC. Before this step SESRTCIC should be sure that the already existing data at the Center is correct and moreover the missing values should be filled as much as possible. For this cooperation of NSOs are severely required. We sent the related existing data in our center to some of the OIC countries for this updating process and we will go on doing this for the others also. If you can help us in this process, we will appreciate it very much.
