Waarom DYA?
Wij kwamen en komen deze situatie keer op keer tegen. En wij zijn tot de volgende conclusie gekomen: werken onder architectuur is noodzakelijk, het opstellen van een architectuur is geen probleem, dat beheersen we wel, maar het omgaan daarmee, daar ligt het grote probleem.
Met alleen het opstellen van een architectuur ben je er niet. Dat mag ook geen doel op zich zijn. De enige rechtvaardiging voor architectuur ligt in het bereiken van de businessdoelen.
Wat wij met z'n allen nodig hebben is een praktische manier van omgaan met architectuur, waarin de noodzaak tot samenhang én tot snelheid in balans zijn. En waarmee we daadwerkelijk bijdragen aan de businessdoelstellingen.
Architectuur moet veel meer doelgericht aangepakt worden, en met beide benen midden in de organisatie staan. Het resultaat is dan ook een praktische aanpak: DYA

Wat is DYA?
DYA gaat NIET over de vraag "hoe maak ik een architectuur?”. DYA gaat WEL over de vragen "wanneer maak ik welke architectuur, wie betrek ik daarbij, voor wie maak ik die architectuur, wie doet er wat mee en met welk doel?". Het antwoord op deze vragen is situationeel bepaald. Daarom bevat DYA geen lineair stappenplan, maar een model, het DYA denk-/werkmodel.
DYA staat voor dynamische architectuur. Dynamisch omdat het gebaseerd is op het idee dat architectuur in de huidige tijd niet alleen samenhang moet bieden, maar ook de behoefte aan snelheid moet ondersteunen. Er is hierbij geen eenduidig stap-voor-stap recept te geven voor het werken onder architectuur. Daarvoor verschillen organisaties te veel, wat zijn weerslag heeft op de manier waarop het best met architectuur kan worden omgegaan.
Een denk-/werkmodel daarentegen, geeft aan de ene kant concrete handvatten, geplaatst in een kader, terwijl het aan de andere kant ruimte laat voor verschillende invullingen. Ieder kan uit het model halen wat voor hem of haar interessant is. In het gebruik wordt het model steeds verder specifiek voor de eigen organisatie ingevuld.
De kern van het DYA-model wordt gevormd door vier processen die het hele traject van strategievorming tot realisatie van ICT-oplossingen beslaan. Immers, architectuur kun je niet in isolement bekijken. Het model geeft aan hoe deze processen vormgegeven kunnen worden en levert tal van best practices, instrumenten en sjablonen die helpen om het werken onder architectuur in te vullen.
Het model komt niet uit de lucht vallen, maar is gebaseerd op een concrete visie die wij hebben op het omgaan met architectuur. Die visie hebben we uitgedrukt in tien principes. U kunt DYA dan ook vanuit drie invalshoeken bekijken: als een visie op architectuur, als een model voor de processen die relevant zijn vanuit het werken onder architectuur en als een verzameling best practices waaruit u kunt putten.
