In the beginning… Challenge to develop an M&E system to support planning and decision-making at the State level Stimulated from the State Secretary of Planning and Budget (SPP) Recognition of the need to start with initial step: improve information system Underlying premise: How to provide policymakers with the information needed for decision making at their fingertips 2

The Context Federal law requiring a shift towards results-based management Federal law requiring the establishment of state committees for statistical and geographic information (CEIEG) Yucatán was the first to establish CEIEG Purpose: Provide overall guidance and oversight of state information system Strong awareness and political support of State leadership Coincide with interest of INEGI to increase engagement at state level 3
