8 Reading Block Use of novels, reading anthology, & other printed materials  Skills in: vocabulary, comprehension, main idea, literary elements, conclusions, summaries, sequence, author’s purpose, etc. Homework assigned on Mon. for the week Monday: Read 20 min. + Reading Log Entry Tuesday: Read 20 min. + Reading Log Entry Wednesday:Read 20 min. + Reading Log Entry Thursday: Read 20 min. + Reading Log Entry

9 Language Arts Block  Warm- Up: Daily “get in gear” activities such as, making words, journaling, analogies and grammar corrections.  Spelling: using phonetic patterns Spelling Pre-test on Mondays Score determines if students receives List 1 or List 2 Spelling Test on Thursdays  Writer’s Workshop: Students will use the Writing Process to compose original writing pieces.  Vocabulary: We will focus on several vocabulary words each week to expand our students’ vocabulary.  Homework assigned on Mon. for the week Monday: 1 Spelling Activity from the Café Wednesday: 1 Spelling Activity from the Café

10 Math Block  Check homework  Daily lessons centered around State Curriculum Wednesday is Assessment Day  Alternating between Tests and Quizzes  Multiplication Timed Test every week Friday’s following Tests  Reflection Day  Self-analysis of missed test questions  Hands on Approach reinforced through strategic games, manipulative, visuals, rotations & vocab.  Homework assigned on Mon. for the week Monday: 1 page (Mo Math usually) Tuesday: Study Guide with newly learned skills Wednesday: Think Through Math computer program Thursday: 1 page (Mo Math usually)

13 Social Studies Block Social Studies in the 3 rd grade offers the student a chance to explore his/her community more in depth. Students uncover their community’s unique history, personalities, cultures, and landmarks. We will journey through a regional tour where students will learn about different regions in our country.
