Telecoils Telecoils are inductive coils put inside hearing instruments to pick up electromagnetic leakage from telephone receivers

Telecoils When the aid has a telecoil, the patient is able to hear what is being said on the other end of the phone Telecoils cannot be put into every size hearing aid, space is the limiting factor The phone must be “ hearing aid compatible ” for the telecoil to work

Telecoils It is not new technology Telecoils have been around for 50 years The only new component is the “ switchless ” feature

Switchless Telecoils Same component, different path Everyone has a different name for the same feature (AutoPhone, Easy T, Auto Telecoil) The hearing aid will switch to the telecoil program automatically when a HA compatible phone is used

ME950 AutoPhone An automatic telephone detection with no manual adjustments required With AutoPhone, ME950 automatically switches to Telecoil or Acoustic telephone

ME950 AutoPhone AutoPhone can be activated BTEs – in Program 2 or Program 3 AutoPhone can be switched off if desired Available in all BTEs

Data Recall with the Smart VC

Current Solutions Instruments are fitted in a quiet clinic, away from real-life environments Fittings are done using a prescription based on averages Fine-tuning is very often done with “ unnatural ” signals Fine-tuning is challenging within the time constraints of clinical appointments The fitter does not know the individual loudness preferences

Smart VC Data Recall analyzes the volume adjustments made by the wearer in each program (via volume control and/or remote) The changes are weighted, averaged and automatically applied for each listening program Most recent volume changes have a larger effect on the learning result

-16 -12 -8 -4 0 4 VC position 8 12 1234567 Time in days Data Recall – Technical Details Smart VC – The principle Manual VC changes (arrows), current VC position (grey line segments) and learning curve of Smart VC (blue) National Acoustics Laboratory, Australia – IPS patient study

Volume Control Basics VC range – the total amount of gain that a VC has from “ just-on ” to full-on Power on position will default to 48% If this needs to be changed, you must uncheck the SmartVC VC range = 16 48% 8 dB

Data Recall – Technical Details

Data Recall – Fitting information Data Recall can be accessed from the tool bar, menu or from program selection Maximum learning range is +/- 12 dB

The bi-directional remote control Controls and reads instrument settings This is the same remote that is available for the ME900

Wax Guard Systems

What is Preferred? Wax trap Extended Receiver Tube Wax Spring

Informal Poll Results

Wax Guard System Available C-Guard (950 only) Disposable Wax Guard Wax Spring Discontinued Wax Guard Wax Trap

C-Guard wax protection solution Standard on all ME950 custom instruments Effectively seals the receiver with a membrane barrier Is ONLY available on the ME950 custom products

BTE instruments – Color options They ‘ re not just for open BTEs Beige Brown Grey
