3. What is a team? On your table we would like you to reflect on your experiences in teams – good ones and not so good. Please indentify the three most important characteristics of an effective team and three characteristics of a poorly performing team (that are not simply opposites!)

4. Team Roles and team types Some will want to ascertain the difference between what should be preserved and what changed. There will be things they want to keep Some will think long and hard about the chnages that will emerge internally from their visions of the future Some will be keen to move things on – doing things now Some will be particularly inventive and seeking something novel.

5. The more similar the team members are the sooner they will reach common understanding. The quicker decisions will be made but the greater the possibility of error through exclusion of some possibilities The more disparate the team members the longer it takes for understanding to occur and the longer the decision making process will be but the more views and ideas will be taken into account
