1 Warm Up  1. Find the range of a 4 kg projectile launched at a 45 degree angle with an initial velocity of 7 m/s.  2. Define Force.

2 Test results Must come in to do Test corrections/make up test. No one will have their test passed back until everyone has taken it.

3 Newton’s First Law  An object’s velocity will not change unless a force acts on it.

4 What is a force?  A force is:  a Push or Pull

5 Equilibrium  An object is in Equilibrium when it’s velocity is not changing  Net Force: sum of all forces on an object  If an object is in equilibrium then: The net force on the object is zero

6 Force is measured in NEWTONS

7  Inertia: Tendency of an object to resist changes to its motion  Mass: Intrinsic characteristic of an object which defines it resistance to changes of its acceleration

8 Newton’s Second Law  F = ma  Force = mass * acceleration  OR  m = F/a  a = F/m

9 Homework  Page 144 (1, 3, 20-23)‏  Worksheet
