Fluids and Pressure By: Ben Visnesky, Jade Schweitzer, Randy Smith, and Dimitri Ermakov

Types of Pressure  Air Pressure- The pressure exerted by the atmosphere  Gas Pressure- The pressure exerted by gas  Fluid Pressure- The pressure at some point within a fluid. Such as water or air.  Oil Pressure- Pressure that keeps oil on the moving parts of an internal-combustion engine  Pressure is also found in food and car brakes

Types of Fluids  Fluid Brakes  Gas Fluids  Body Fluids  Oil Fluids  Incompressible Fluids  Slightly Compressible Fluids  Compressible Fluids  Newtonian Fluid

Definition of Pressure  A pressure is the continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.

Definition of fluid AAAA fluid is a substance that cannot maintain its own shape but takes the shape of its container.

Equations for Pressure PPPPressure Eqauation: P=Force/Area=F/A FFFForce=Pressure x Area AAAArea= Force/Pressure

Equations For Fluids  P=pRuT/M  Dp/Dt=0

The SI Unit for Pressure  Pascal (PA) equal to one Newton per square meter

Fluid  liquid = Fluid = water

Brakes  You ( the driver of the car) apply little pressure to the pedal and the brake fluid in the line increases the pressure, then the pressure is transferred to the brakes to slow down the car

Examples of Fluids  Liquids- water and oil  Gases- oxygen

Density and Pressure  Fluids with a greater density will exert a greater pressure

Pascal’s Principle AAAA change in pressure at any point in an enclosed fluid will be transmitted equally to all parts of the fluid

Examples of Pressure in Fluids

Slide Show  That was our show THE END
