5 Vertebrates Mammals Have hair & produce milk for their young Reptiles **Examples: Cats, dogs, humans Have dry and scaly skin **Examples: Lizards, snakes, &turtles Amphibians Have moist skin with no scales ; most begin life in water but live on land as adults **Examples: Frogs, toads, newts BirdsFish

6 Most vertebrates have sharp senses & large brains. These help them survive in their surroundings.

7 Invertebrates Animals without backbone **Examples: snail, crab, beetle

9 Arthropods  invertebrates with legs that have several joints,  their bodies have 2 or more parts  sometimes have shells to protect them **Examples: beetles, bees, crabs, lobster, grasshopper, spiders

10 Mollusk invertebrates that may or may not have a hard outer shell **Examples: snail, sea sponge, clams
