2 WHAT IS SCULPTURE? SCULPTURE is a 3-Dimensional artwork which may be made through different processes such as carving, modeling, assembling or casting. It may be executed as free-standing object, in relief, or in environment. A variety of media may be used, including clay, fabric, metal, plaster, plastic, porcelain, wax, wood, rubber, stone, found objects and other synthetic or fabricated materials.

3 Different methods in sculpture
CARVING a sculpture is created by removing excess material on a medium (wood, ivory or stone) in order to create desired shape.

4 MODELING The act or art of sculpting in pliable material such as clay or wax to create desired shape.

5 ASSEMBLING is a form of sculpture comprise of found objects arranged in such a way that they create piece.

6 CASTING is a process by which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hallow cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify.

9 TYPES OF SCULPTURE RELIEF
Is a sculpture where figures are projected from a flat background.

10 Different types of relief
LOW RELIEF (Basso-Relievo or Bas-Relief) Where the sculpture projects slightly from the background.

11 HIGH RELIEF (Alto-Relievo or Alto-Relief)
Where the sculpture projects heavily from the background.

12 SUNKEN RELIEF (Coelanaglyphic or Intaglio-Relief)
Where the sculpture is sunk below the level of the surrounding surface and is contained within a sharply incised contour line.

13 FREE-STANDING Is fixed to the ground by its base or support structure, it is also called in-the-round sculpture which may be viewed from more than one position like statues. 14 LAPU-LAPU MONUMENT Also called the Statue of the Sentinel of Freedom. Partial Transcription of the monument marker: This monument is "a gift of The Korea Freedom League and Poongsan Microtech Philippine, Inc. in Appreciation and Honor of the memory of Freedom-Loving Filipinos Who Sent their Sons to Help Save Korean Democracy" (during the Korean War in the early 1950's). 

15 THE THINKER It was made by Auguste Rodin in Paris. It can be found in Grawemeyer Hall on the University of Louisville Kentucky First displayed at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. It reflects/symbolizes philosophy.

16 KINETIC Is a sculpture which involves physical motion which is normally moved by natural forces. FOUR SQUARES It was made by George Rickey in Geviert on 1969. Can be found on the New National Gallery in Berlin Germany.

17 ORNAMENTAL SCULPTURE Is a sculpture used for adornment.

18 INSTALLATION ART Is created within a specific site. It is usually large scale. The site becomes just as important as the sculpture as far as the concept is concerned.

20 LAND ART, EARTHWORKS or EARTHART
Is an art movement in which landscape and the work of art are inextricably linked. An art form that is created in nature using natural resources.

21 Sculpture are not placed in the landscape rather the landscape is the means of their creation.
