Geometry Mr. Myers 8/29(A) & 9/2(B)

Look at the picture at the right. List as many geometric terms as you can think of that are represented in the photo.

Students will be able to identify, name, draw, and apply basic facts of points, lines, segments, rays, and planes.

1) Warm-Up #2 2) Go Over HW/OBJ/Agenda 3) Collect HW 4) Syllabus Quiz 5) Algebra Worksheet 6) Activity: Get to the Point… 7) Vocab Chart: Unit A 8) Foldable: A-1 Postulates 9) Brain Pop: Geometry

I AM COLLECTING… 1. Signed Syllabus 2. Parent HW (EC)

next class! Get all class materials by next class! Complete the 1-1 “Points, Lines, and Planes” Worksheet DUE by WEDNESDAY 9/3! Kidblog Post #1 DUE by WEDNESDAY 9/3!

Complete the six question quiz. NO TALKING! WHEN YOUR FINISHED BRING UP YOUR QUIZ AND PICK UP AN ALGEBRA REVIEW WORKSHEET.

Organize the terms with the correct notation and picture (diagram). Once your group believes they are finished, have Mr. Myers check the organization of your cards. Once you have been given the okay, fill in the vocabulary chart. LEAVE THE DEFINITION SECTION BLANK we will do that part together as a class.

Fill in the vocabulary chart as we discuss each of the vocabulary terms we just became familiar with in the activity.

Create the foldable and label each tab in the order below: FIRST TAB NEEDS TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING: POSTULATES, YOUR NAME, MR. MYERS, PERIOD, & DATE Postulate 1 Postulate 2 Postulate 3 Postulate 4 Postulate 5

postulate Watch the Brain Pop Video and be able to tell us what a postulate is. http://www.brainpop.com/math/geometryandmeasure ment/geometry/

What is a Postulate? A statement that is accepted to be true without any proof. What are Common Notions? Logical statements we all generally take for granted (ex: a whole is greater than a part).

Euclid's first postulate is Through any two points there is exactly one line.

Through any three noncollinear points there is exactly one plane containing them.

If two points lie in a plane, then the line containing those points lies in the plane.

If two lines intersect, then they intersect at exactly one point.

If two planes intersect, then they intersect in exactly one line.

Get all class materials by next class! Complete the 1-1 “Points, Lines, and Planes” Worksheet.
