7 More Angle Definitions B D H L M 2 angles in the same plane are adjacent angles if they have a common vertex and a common side, but no common interior points. Example: BDL and LDM Non-Example: LDH and LDM 2 angles are complementary angles if the sum of their measures is 90 degrees. Example: BDL and LDM 2 angles are supplementary angles if the sum of their measures is 180 degrees. Example: BDL and LDH

10 Parallel Lines and a Transversal The following have equal measure: Alternate Interior Angles are inside the parallel lines, and on opposite sides of the transversal. (Also, 4 and 5) Corresponding Angles are the ones at the same location at each intersection. (Also, 2 and 6; 3 and 7; 4 and 8) Alternate Exterior Angles are outside the parallel lines, and on opposite sides of the transversal. (Also, 1 and 8) Vertical Angles are opposite from each other. Like 1 and 4. Or 2 and 3. Or 5 and 8. Or 6 and 7. 10

12 Similar Figures Two figures that have the same shape are said to be similar. When two figures are similar, the ratios of the lengths of their corresponding sides are equal.similar We can use these ratios to find missing measurements. 12
