2. Strategies for success on any Test Step 1:Pay attention Pay Attention and make sure that your name is on your test. Pay Attention to all directions and read them carefully before you begin the section. Pay Attention the titles, headings and types of questions. Pay attention to the reference information; charts, graphs, illustrations & captions. Pay attention to the words that are in BOLD or italicized.

3. Strategies for success on any Test Step 2: Read & Answer Read all of the selection carefully. Do not skip material and scan for answers! Read All the answers provided-eliminate those that are completely wrong. This increases your chances for choosing the correct answer by 50% if you can eliminate 2. Complete all parts of the problem.

4. Strategies for success on any Test Step 3:Use time effectively Keep moving-Do what you can first and then go back for the few you had trouble with later. Use your time wisely-when your done go back and check your answers-ask yourself if the answers you have chosen make sense.

5. Strategies for success on any test Step 4: Check over your answers  Be careful when bubbling-if you skip a question indicate it by a small dash to the question, so you keep your answers in the correct order.  Check periodically to make sure that your answer sheet matches the question that you are really on.

6. Reading Keys Read the questions first Chunk the text paragraph by paragraph, or section by section and underline main ideas, or write them in the margin. As your reading jot the number to that question that you believe that sections or paragraph address. Read the passage carefully-make a mental picture of what you have read

7. Reading Keys Read all the headings, subheading and titles, they are clues to understanding the passage. Use all the reference materials provided. Such as, charts, graphs and pictures with captions. They are also there to provide you with information about the text.

8. Remember your Fix-It strategies If you have trouble with a name of someone or something-no worries! Assign it one and be consistent with the name you gave. Substitute a word in the passage for another that you think would make sense in the passage if you don’t know a word. Use clues in the passage to help you understand the meaning of a word or a phrase.

9. Math Keys Use the formula sheet provided for you. Work out the problem carefully. Determine if your answers make sense- is your answer in the correct form? If they want the answer in liters remember you might need to convert it to liters. Use the conversion information that is provided. Show all your work. You can get credit for what you do know. Write your answers on the bottom

10. “Keep your head in the game” Give it your best effort from start to finish. Stay positive Trust yourself! Expect success!!!
