Purpose of ELD Addendum With parents… Share student’s current level of language proficiency and progress in acquiring English Provide longitudinal data on student’s growth in language acquisition from entry until current grade Clarify expectations for rate of proficiency growth

Challenges with Previous Addendum Not standards-based Listening and Speaking only Measured a student’s growth on selected language functions and on specific aspects of grammar only Format of the addendum inadvertently limited the teacher’s use of data to that which came out of the ELD trimester assessments Complicated longitudinal growth and expectations chart

Let’s Summarize Important Points! PROGRESS: This is the CELDT longitudinal progress. At conferences, teachers will discuss this w/parents, as well as the Goal, so that parents know if their child is on track, or not. PERFORMANCE: This is what is happening in the classroom with language acquisition throughout the day. Instructional Level: The version of the ELD Lesson Planner used with this student. Standards: ELD Standards

Addendum Directions The classroom teacher will: complete the ELD addendum populate the ELD Teacher Name and LTEL box identify the ELD Instructional Level of the student indicate with drop-down boxes the student’s level of progress in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing use multiple measures to determine this progress

Let’s Summarize Teacher Responsibilities! 1. Long-Term EL: Teacher will use chart on the Addendum instructions to select Yes or No from the drop-down menu. 2. ELD Teacher: Classroom teacher will write in the name of the ELD teacher. 3.CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE: Teacher will determine a progress indicator (√, + or -) for Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, using multiple measures. 1. 2. 3.

Additional Directions for Teachers Make sure that you use the current version of the ELD addendum. Do NOT to use previous addendums. Ensure that all previous addendums have been printed and placed in student CUMS. If you have questions, please speak with the principal or EL coach first, and then with ELS BEFORE contacting NIS.
