5 Workforce Investment Act 5 Increase employment, retention, and earnings of participants Increase occupation skill attainment by participants Improve quality of the workforce Reduce welfare dependency Enhance productivity and competitiveness of the nation’s economy WIA Section 106

6 Tribes and Native American organizations provide employment and training services to Native American peoples and their communities. Provide services in a culturally appropriate manner, consistent with the principles of Indian self-determination. Develop academic, occupational, and literacy skills Make them more competitive in the workforce Promote the economic and social development of Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities according to the goals and values of such communities Help them achieve personal and economic self-sufficiency. Purpose of Indian and Native American Programs under Section 166 of WIA 6 Support comprehensive employment and training activities for Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian individuals in order to: Means of accomplishing these goals:
