These are the training aims that you will use to deliver the “Who’s Challenging Who?” training session
2
2 We hope the “Who’s Challenging Who?” training session will help people think more positively about people with challenging behaviour
3
2 The training is based on what we feel and think
4
2 We want to tell you what it is like to have challenging behaviour, and about the problems we face in our everyday lives
5
2 We also want to give you advice on how you can provide us with better services
6
What do you think about these training aims?
7
Learning Objectives These are the skills and knowledge people will learn during a training session
8
This is what we want staff to learn by the end of the “Who’s Challenging Who?” training session 2
9
2 What people with challenging behaviour think about how other people perceive them
10
2 What problems there are around communication, and what we can do to make communication easier
11
2 What problems exist where the person with challenging behaviour lives and what can be done to help improve these problems
12
2 How people feel when they are physically restrained, and what we can do to avoid using restraint
13
2 How medication can be unhelpful for some people with challenging behaviour, and how we can support them to deal with medication problems
14
2 A person with challenging behaviour wants and needs to be valued equally, listened to and included just like everyone else

Confidentiality
39
Giving our own experiences is a good way of training people
40
But it’s important to do it in the right way
41
We are talking about someone who isn’t in the room We aren’t being nice about them Should we use their name?
42
The same goes for any companies or organizations' we are talking about
43
It’s also important that we don’t share stories from training outside of the room.
44
Do you think we should have a rule about confidentiality in our training session?
45
How to end a session
46
Before the people we have trained can go home We have to do a few things first
47
Can anyone think what they are?
48
First we would list the learning objectives These are the things the staff have learned
49
Then we could ask if anyone had any questions about the training session
50
Then we would thank everyone for coming
51
Ask people to fill out a training evaluation form
52
It is your turn to practice We will give you some feedback
53
List what staff have learned
54
Ask if anyone has any questions
55
Thank everyone for coming to the training
