She was born in New York in 1884. She had obstacles as a young child. She was a very shy child. Born into a wealthy family, but had a desire to help others and those less fortunate.

She helped needy people by serving dinner to them. Loved to learn. Told by teacher that she was a leader. Become less shy and more confident.

Her mother, father and brother died before she was 10 years old. She was a woman.

ELEANOR MADE HER SOCIETY DEBUT IN 1902. She received 35 honorary degrees during her life. In 1958, folkways Records released an album by Roosevelt of her documentary on the United Nations Declaration of human Rights.

Every person is born free and equal. Slavery is not allowed. Every person has the right to be treated equally. Every child has the right to go to school for free. Every person has the right to his or her opinion. Every person has the right to a home, food and medical care.

AAfter women won the right to vote, they took part in election campaigns. TThat year, Eleanor Roosevelt Joined a group that taught women about issues that were important to voters.
