2. WHEN WAS HE BORN? Thomas Edison was born in 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He grew up in Port Huron, Michigan.

3. FAMILY  Thomas Edison was the seventh child.

4. FIRST WIFE  Thomas Edison had two wives.  The first wife was Mary Stilwell, they had three children.  Mary died in 1884. She died when she was 29.

5. SECOND WIFE  His second wife was Mina Miller.  They had three children as well.

6. FIRST JOB  Thomas Edison’s first job was as a telegraph operator.

7.  His first patented invention was the vote recorder in 1869.  Later in 1871 he invented the phonograph. He was 24 years old and it became very popular.  Thomas Edison improved the light bulb idea, using electricity. INVENTIONS  His other inventions was, motion picture camera.  He has over 1,093 patents in the US.

8.  Thomas Edison had a winter escape in Fort Myers, Florida.  There are two houses, one for Thomas Edison's family and one for the guests.  He had a lab there as well. FORT MYERS

9. Thomas Edison died in 1931.
