5 The DAFNE objectives 1) I ncreasing the understanding of dietary habits and of socio-economic factors shaping them, in countries where such data are limited; 2) I ntegrating regularly updated food and related data into a cost-effective databank which serves as a source of comparable between countries nutrition indicators; 3) P roviding data to tackle inequalities in health that stem from socio-economic disparities in the dietary choices of the populations; 4) I dentifying health challenges Member States may face; 5) E nlarging the already operating DAFNE databank strengthening thus the capacity to plan and assess nutrition strategies and interventions within the enlarged EU. 7 th Meeting of the Working Party on Information on Lifestyle and Specific Subpopulations 14 May 2008, Luxembourg
