“No matter what kind of religion a man has, if it cannot deal with sin, it is of no value.” (Warren Wiersbe)

Only Christianity can sufficiently deal with sin because only Jesus Christ can completely remove sin. Even the old covenant could not effectively remove sin for sacrifices had to be offered day after day only to temporarily cover sins.

But when Jesus Christ came and offered his perfect life as an atoning sacrifice, it cleansed our consciences, wiped our guilt, and made us clean permanently. Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice expresses what God approves.

Basic Sacrifices in Israel (Lev. 1-7): 1.Burnt Offerings 2.Grain Offerings 3.Peace Offerings 4.Sin Offerings 5.Guilt Offerings

1.Jesus Christ’s Perfect Sacrifice (vv. 1-14) a.“But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (vv. 12-14)

1.Jesus Christ’s Perfect Sacrifice (vv. 1-14) b.Jesus the Messiah offered a perfect sacrifice that can completely remove the curse and the consequences of man’s sin.

2.Holy Spirit’s Prophesied Testimony (v. 15-18) a.“This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds…Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

2.Holy Spirit’s Prophesied Testimony (v. 15-18) b.The Holy Spirit testifies through the prophet Jeremiah that God has made a new covenant that is far better than the old covenant. It is able to cleanse man’s conscience from guilt and transform him from within.

3.Believer’s Persevering Faith (vv. 19-39) a.“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” (v. 22)

3.Believer’s Persevering Faith (vv. 19-39) b.“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (v. 23)

3.Believer’s Persevering Faith (vv. 19-39) c.“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” (v. 24)

3.Believer’s Persevering Faith (vv. 19-39) d.“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (v. 25)

Excuses for church chronic absenteeism “I need more sleep. I worked so hard this week.” “I need more sleep. I worked so hard this week.” “I don’t need others to grow. They need me.” “I don’t need others to grow. They need me.” “I am ok. I can manage.” “I am ok. I can manage.”

“The believer who begins to drift from the Word (Heb. 2:1–4) will soon start to doubt the Word (Heb. 3:7–4:13). Soon, he will become dull toward the Word (Heb. 5:11–6:20) and become “lazy” in his spiritual life. This will result in despising the Word, which is the theme of this exhortation (Heb. 10:26-31).” Warren Wiersbe

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” (Hebrews 13:15-16)
