10 © Paradigm Publishing, Inc. 9 Objectives Create a Chart - continued  Type the desired data in the Excel worksheet cells over the existing data.  To type data in the Excel worksheet, click in the desired cell, type the data, and then press the Tab key to make the next cell active.  Press Shift + Tab to make the previous cell active or press the Enter key to make the cell below active.  As you type data in the Excel worksheet, the entries are reflected in the chart in the Word document.

11 © Paradigm Publishing, Inc. 10 Objectives Create a Chart - continued  Excel uses the data in the range to create the chart in the slide.  You are not limited to creating charts with only four columns and five rows, however.  Simply type data in cells outside the data range and Excel will expand the data range and incorporate the new data in the chart. This happens because the table AutoExpansion feature is on by default.  If you type data in a cell outside the data range, an AutoCorrect Options button displays in the lower right corner of the cell when you move away from the cell. Use this button if you want to turn off AutoExpansion.

27 © Paradigm Publishing, Inc. 26 Objectives Format the Chart - continued  The Arrange and Size groups on the CHART TOOLS FORMAT tab contain buttons and options for changing the location of a chart, changing the chart’s position relative to other elements, and changing the height and width of a chart.  The options in the two groups are the same as the options in the Arrange and Size groups on the DRAWING TOOLS FORMAT tab.

28 © Paradigm Publishing, Inc. 27 Objectives Format the Chart - continued  Additional formatting options are available at various task panes.  To display a task pane, click the Format Selection button or click a group task pane launcher.  The Shape Styles and WordArt Styles groups on the CHART TOOLS FORMAT tab both contain task pane launchers.  The task pane that opens at the right side of the screen depends on the chart or chart element selected.
