4 WHO IS MRS. PACE?  Born in Ohio, moved to Las Vegas at 2 years old  BS in Education from Nevada State College  MS in Reading and Mathematics from Walden University  Nine years teaching experience at different levels  Second year at Rogich

5 OBJECTIVE  Nevada Academic Content Standards  Influence children to enjoy writing using proper strategies and techniques  Influence students to enjoy reading and how to analyze text

6 GRADING PROCEDURES  Scale: 90-100: A 80-89: B 70-79: C 60-69: D 59 and below: F  An “F” for the SEMESTER can result in retention  Subject Percentages: Assessments / Quizzes / Projects: 40% Class work / class participation: 35% Homework: 25% Comprehensive semester exams 20%

7  PENCILS / PENS!!!  Student Agenda  5 subject spiral notebook with dividers and pockets  Composition Notebook CLASSROOM ESSENTIALS  Two pocket plastic folder with prongs  Loose Left Paper  Highlighter / Flash Drive  Cell Phones turned OFF or silenced (CANNOT be out)

8 CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS / GOALS  Students should be prepared for class each day (use agenda).  Students should be on time. Bell work will not be accepted if student is tardy. This is a school wide policy.  Students should be respectful and honest with parents, classmates, and me.  Students are responsible for receiving extra help/make-up work before/after school.  Students should enjoy class and feel a sense of community.

11 HOMEWORK  Weekly Word Study Homework Based on Latin and Greek roots Collected every Friday  Biweekly Anchor Text Homework Students will get either a nonfiction or fictional story / passage and homework to go along with it  USE STUDENT PLANNER / AGENDA
