› When adding or subtracting decimals: –Line up the decimal point. –Add zeroes as placeholders where necessary. –Add or subtract. When multiplying decimals: –Do NOT line up the decimals! –Multiply as with whole numbers. –Count the number of decimal places in each factor. –Place the same number of decimal places in the product. When dividing decimals: –Make the divisor a whole number by multiplying by powers of 10 if necessary. –Multiply the dividend by the same power of 10. –Move the decimal point straight up to the quotient. –Divide.
