32 First Workshop on ICP December 2003, Beirut 10 countries + LAS; 18 national participants; 5 sessions,10 papers: ICP as an integrated framework; global program and work progress; detailed discussion of the ICP Handbook; detailed discussion of the ICP Handbook applications of data collection and data processing in price surveys

33 First Workshop on ICP different methods used for computing PPPs; ICP Tool Pack demonstration and overview of its uses by national, regional, and global offices; review the Status for SPDs for food, clothing and footwear; detailed demonstration of the ICP-SPD Software; Round Table discussion.

34 First Workshop on ICP Discussion of the ICP Handbook, mainlyDiscussion of the ICP Handbook, mainly: pricing concepts and work methods; Structured Product Description SPDs; sampling and selection for products and prices. Round Table discussion, stressed on: exhibition of national experiences; set communication procedures for completing the process of ICP SPD/PS exercise.

35 Second Workshop on ICP To be held in Cairo (12-16 June 2004); Participants: NCs + Price Statisticians + National Accounts Statisticians; Will be divided into four parts: 1) Finalize List of Products: F&C; 2) Discuss SPD/PSs of new expenditure groups; 3) Build capacities; 4) Provide practical training; 5) NCs meeting: Agree on future plans and procedures.

36 Second Workshop on ICP Capacity Building Sampling and survey framework for price collection; Brief overview of PPP concepts: methods of data processing; Expenditure classification & weighting system; Sources of data for obtaining detailed breakdown of expenditure.

37 Second Workshop on ICP Training ICP Tool-Pack: practical training, two days long Price Collection Module (PCM); and Price Administration Module (PAM);

38 Second Workshop on ICP Meeting of National Coordinators Discuss and decide on Country price survey samples (methodologies, sample frame, timing and frequency); Set-up procedures for: 1. Gathering data from different segments; 2. Calculating and submitting average prices; and 3. Data quality assurance; Agree on a time-plan for: 1. Finalizing the Product Lists; 2. Preparing the final plan for the price survey; and 3. Train data collectors;

39 Third Workshop on ICP To be held in first week of the month before the survey; Participants: NCs + Price Statisticians; Will focus on the survey: 1) Evaluate the sampling methods and assure its harmony; 2) Follow up on training; 3) Discuss and harmonize the national plans; 4) Set-up procedures for monitoring and following up the implementation of the survey.
