2 Interest I chose this topic mostly because I was tired of people using gender as an excuse for being able to, or not being able to do something. I was frustrated by people telling me I couldn’t do something based solely on my gender.

3 Paper Driving Question: What allowed for women to transition from working in the home to working in the workforce? Thesis: Opportunities for women have grown over the past fifty years due to some passionate leaders, important events, and ground-breaking legislature. I learned that women weren’t just given their rights; they had to fight to earn them because they were trying to change tradition.

4 Interesting Facts Teaching home economics in school reinforced the cycle of homebound women. Girl Scouts bridged the gap created by home economics classes by teaching young girls helpful skills. Betty Friedan was a co-founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW), which was for adult women what Girl Scouts was for young girls.

5 Product I created a short documentary film. About eight minutes long Works perfectly as a classroom supplement I did not have an official mentor. –I sought help when needed. My documentary took a section of my paper and went into greater detail.
