Poor user acceptance or, more importantly, reduced benefits and potentially impact patient safety Characteristics of an ePMA Project

www.england.nhs.uk Using the questionnaire Trusts can review the status of their project and check that all of the key aspects have been considered in the project planning Allows planning of items on a critical path and building a timeline in readiness to ePMA going live Provides a pragmatic review of the status of the project not all aspects of an ePMA project, but the specific topics that should be considered prior to go live most of these are areas that could cause a problem at or after go live if they have not been considered Building on the experiences of sites who have previously ‘gone live’

Each Trust should have it's own IT acceptance readiness criteria. These are used to assess every IT implementation prior to go live. TechnicalIT Acceptance Readiness Criteria Has the project passed your Trust's IT acceptance criteria? TechnicalIT - wireless Network Have all areas of the clinical areas been checked to see if the wireless network works? i.e. all part of the ward to drug trolley will be positioned. Have all potential future areas also been checked for wireless? Corners of wards / all side rooms All relevant clinics and specialist rooms x part of overall EPR programme TechnicalIT - wireless Network Has the wireless network been load tested to check it can cope with the additional work load that ePMA will require? Especially areas of high use x part of overall EPR programme
