2 Educating Youth Held in the Justice System Detention Homes (Youth up to 18) VDOE Partners with LEA (General Education/Special Education)  Operates as a State Operated Program  Programming is overseen by the VBOE and the VDOE  Personnel are contracted through the LEA where the facility resides

3 Pre-dispositional Detainee Average Length of Stay 12-15 days Released Sent back to Detention Home to serve Post-dispositional Detention Average Length of Stay up to 6 months Sent to a Juvenile Correction Center as an Incarcerated Youth Adjudicated Youth Educating Youth Held in the Justice System

5 Reception and Diagnostic Center Receive, Evaluate, and Place Community Placement Programs – Halfway Houses Screening Residential Placement Programs Focuses on transitional skills to juveniles leaving DJJ’s correctional centers Takes advantage of the unique resources available in its community to meet the needs of the residents Residents gain additional skills to promote a continued positive adjustment and reduce the risk of recidivism Beaumont Bon Air Culpeper Hanover Oak Ridge Alt. Placements
