1 Hot Topics Web Evaluation Watch the presentation and fill out one form based on your website evaluation Print the form and the first page of the web page. Evaluate all of your websites.

2 This week we will be working on our big debate. You must come prepared all week to the library! You must bring a package of 4” x 6” lined index cards to class. You can share with a couple of people. You will make 15 cards. You must bring the sources that you’ve collected so far to the library ALL WEEK.

3 Thesis Statement Tomorrow students in period 6, you must turn in your individual thesis statements (5 points). Your thesis should be clear and concise. It will be an assertion of policy. For ex. The death penalty should be illegal. For ex. Abortion should remain legal in the United States.

If someone else proposed a solution that you think would work, quote them here or use a paraphrase (That means put what they said in your own words. Don’t forget, you still must credit them!) Write the full source citation (s) of where you got your audio and/or visual aids. For my auditory aid I will play the record- breaking (home-runs in a single season) game involving Barry Bonds, suspected of using The Cream and The Clear, designer synthetic steroids. For my visual aid, I will show a picture of Barry Bonds before the drugs and a picture after. (Head grew 2 inches at 35 or 36 years old)

Decide which arguments should come first and which last. Which will be used as supports? Which as refutation? Remember, some of your quotes and paraphrases will be used in refutation of your opponent’s views. Start labeling the cards with where they will be used in your outline/speech. This may change, so use pencil. When you are finished with your cards, you will be ready to sit down with your opponent. When you’ve gone through all your sources, you’ll have TEN notecards, filled with info and where you got it from…
