NOTES: Parenthetical Documentation When you use a quote OR a paraphrase in your paper, it must have a set of parentheses ( ) with the page number where you got the quote. The period comes at the end. Examples: Brent discovers the he is crossing “the River Styx” (24), which begins his journey into the life of a whirligig- maker. OR Brent begins his journey as a whirligig-maker when he crosses “the River Styx” (24).

NOTES: Works Cited Page When you use a quote OR a paraphrase in your paper, you must tell (cite) the place you got it. Depending on the source you used, you will cite it a certain way. The works cited is the last page of your paper and is numbered/double-spaced just like the rest. For a book, we do this: Author’s Last Name, First Name. Book Title. City of Publication: Publisher Name, Year.

Sample Works Cited Page Works Cited Bookworm, Ima. Love to Read. Atlanta: Sequoyah Press, 2006. **If you used more sources, they would be listed in alphabetical order, and the lines would be indented the same way.
